How to Refill Your Candle

Your personal candle in minutes

With Candelize it only takes a few minutes, or four simple steps, to create the scented candle you want in the candle vessel you like. Take an extra minute to read through the instructions below and on the back of the bag before you begin. That way you can be sure of a wonderful experience with Candelize.

Create your personal candle

    1. Open the bag and take out the wicks provided.
    2. Place the bag in the microwave (MAX 650W) for 2-3 minutes, or in a saucepan of boiling water for 5 minutes, or until the wax is completely melted. Every microwave is different, so the time it takes to melt the wax may be longer or shorter than the approximate time stated on the packaging. The first time, monitor the melting carefully according to the instructions above or on the back of the bag. Candelize wax has a low melting point, so be careful not to overheat it. Overheating makes the bag extremely hot and can affect the quality of your candle.
    3. Remove the sticker on the underside of the wick and place the wick in the centre of your candle vessel. Use the wick holder to keep it in place. One wick is perfect for a vessel that is 8 cm wide. If the vessel is larger, use two evenly spaced wicks.
    4. Pour the melted wax slowly into your candle vessel. Let the candle set for at least two hours before lighting it. The bag can be very hot when you take it out of the microwave or the water. Place your hands underneath the bag, then pour the melted wax slowly from the side into your heat- and fire-resistant vessel.

Get to know your microwave

Candelize wax has a very low melting point, so be careful not to overheat it. Overheating makes the bag extremely hot and can affect the quality of your candle. Lower the power setting on your microwave to reduce the risk of overheating. 650W is the maximum power level. Every microwave is different, so the time it takes to melt the wax may be longer or shorter than the approximate time stated on the bag.

The first time in the microwave

The first time you use Candelize, take the bag out after about 45 seconds to check whether the wax has melted. Repeat the check every 45 seconds until the wax is completely melted.

Reheating

If you do not use all the wax in the bag and heat it up later, please note that the melting time will be shorter than for a full bag. You can also melt the wax by placing the bag in a saucepan of boiling water for five minutes, or until the wax is completely melted.

Choosing a candle vessel

Make sure the vessel you choose is heat- and fire-resistant. A vessel that previously held a scented candle is ideal. Before you start refilling your candle, make sure it is properly cleaned. It is the best way to get that brand-new feeling from your customised candle. If the size and shape of your chosen candle vessel differ significantly from our recommended measurements (8 cm wide), contact us and we will advise you on how to get the best result for your particular vessel.
